When it comes to affiliate marketing, the so-called ‘gurus’ claim they have discovered the secret. But have you noticed that they all pretty much teach variations on the same theories? And really they are the only ones making any real money? That’s because they don’t tell you what they’re really doing. Why? Because then you’d know there is no ‘secret’ and you could make money without their ‘help’.

I’ve been affiliate marketing online since 1997 and a lot has changed, but believe it or not, the basic concept remains the same.  Sure, the tools and techniques are always changing, but the core strategies do not.  That’s good news because it means you don’t have to constantly chase ‘new shiny’ opportunities.

In my experience, some of the best products to promote as an affiliate marketer are tools people need.  For example, every internet marketer needs an autoresponder and a basic web page builder.  If you refer someone to buy such a tool through your affiliate link, you can continue to make commissions for as long as they keep using the tool. And that’s the best part because your referral is likely to keep using those tools for a long time since nobody really wants to go through the hassle of changing their autoresponder or website builder.  The key is to only recommend high-quality products so you know you have the best chance of making a long-term income stream.
